Stephen Godel is currently a health care attorney and regulatory compliance consultant with over 35 years of legal experience in administrative law, health law, employment/labor law,
and administrative and federal court litigation. He formerly was an Administrative Appeals Judge for over 13 years with the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and U.S. Department of Labor, Special Assistant U.S. Attorney (Southern District of Florida), Senior Counsel for the HHS Office of Counsel to the Inspector General, Senior Counsel to the HHS Office of General Counsel, and as a litigation associate attorney at two nationally prominent law firms in the District of Columbia.
Judge Godek has a unique combination of professional experience and knowledge in a wide range of health law and litigation areas involving government investigations, administrative enforcement proceedings, federal court litigation, arbitration, corporate integrity agreements, health care compliance programs, and HIPAA/privacy laws.

He also has extensive judicial and legal experience in Medicare coverage and regulatory requirements, having worked with nearly every sector of the health care industry, including enforcement of standards of quality of care, Medicare Advantage and other health benefit plans, Medicare Part D Prescription Plans, pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, home health care providers, durable medical equipment providers, nursing homes, skilled nursing and rehabilitation facilities, dialysis providers, ambulance and emergency service providers, Hospice care, Institutional Review Boards, scientific research misconduct, and biomedical ethics.

Judge Godek clerked for the Honorable Joseph J. Longobardi, Chief Judge for the U.S. District Court for the District of Delaware. He received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law and his B.A. in American Government, with high distinction, from the University of Virginia School College of Arts & Sciences. Judge G. has been a member in Good Standing of the Bar Association for the District of Columbia since November 1989. He has been married to Gail for 27 years and has two sons who are currently attending the College of William & Mary and the University of Virginia.
