Interim Compliance Support

Compliance departments often encounter the difficulty of managing operational requirements with limited resources and staff. This can hinder their ability to adequately address compliance risks and maintain efficient program operations. To address this challenge, HYGIA offers indispensable assistance to Compliance Officers through various means, including compliance advisory services, acting as an outsourced Designated Compliance Officer, providing short-term Interim Compliance Officer services, and offering overall compliance support.

Interim Compliance Officer

An Interim Compliance Officer is a temporary position, established based on the organization's needs for a limited period. It is commonly used to address gaps within compliance departments when there is a shortage of resources and staff. Ensuring adequate resources and staff is essential for organizations to fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

Designated Compliance Officer (DCO)

A Designated Compliance Officer refers to outsourcing compliance program responsibilities to an expert who takes charge of building, managing day-to-day operations, and enhancing the compliance program. This involves maintaining a program that prevents, detects, and corrects violations of the Code of Conduct, organizational policies and procedures, as well as federal and state laws and regulations.
The HHS OIG supports engaging an outsourced DCO, particularly for smaller healthcare organizations that may find hiring a full-time Compliance Officer financially impractical. As such, DCOs are usually part-time contractors. HYGIA offers experienced consultants to fulfill this role.
