Chief Donald Walsh has a vast array of experience with over
38-years in the nation’s second largest fire-based Emergency Medical Service (EMS) system in the United States. His career experiences and accomplishments included over 30-years on the Chicago Fire Department, An Instructor at the National Fire Academy, Program Manager for U.S. Department of Defense and State with contract services overseeing occupational health and safety for 26 clinics and physical examination centers, and occupational health and safety operations located within war zone at forward operating bases (FOB) serving over 17,000 civilian personnel.

His position included oversight and control of the Medical Contract Support Office at the NATO Kandahar Air Base, in Kandahar Afghanistan. Don served as a State of Nevada Health Facilities Inspector II for the Bureau of Health Care Quality and Compliance in the Department of Health and Humans Services (HHS). In this position he performed U.S. Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) CMS inspections (i.e., CMS Surveys) for Skilled Nursing Facilities, and Hospitals pursuant to 42 CFR Part 483, Subpart B and State Operations Manual Appendix PP – Guidance to Surveyors for Long Term Care Facilities. After service with the Department HHS, Don was promoted in state government as Safety Specialist in the Nevada Department of Business and Industry in the Division of Industrial Relation’s (Nevada OSHA) Safety Consultation and Training Section, percent to NRS 618, and 29 CFR 1910 and 1928. Don has been recognized for establishing and cultivating strong business and governmental relationships with internal management teams,
governments, teaching institutions, and private organizational leaders. Don is a Fellow of the Institute of Medicine of Chicago, served as Subject Matter Expert with NASA, the U.S. Fire
Administration, and the United States Army Soldier Systems Center on first responder Fire Fighters Systems. Don is a national and international evidence-based, scientific, and peer review author with over 50 publications and 70 presentations.
